Price changes and corrections
When we read each host's and registrar's prices, what changed since, and every correction to our own numbers, newest first.
.com registry price: Read Verisign's .com agreements with ICANN: the most Verisign may charge registrars for a .com year is $10.26, against $7.85 in the 2012 agreement, and it may raise that cap by up to 7% a year in the pricing years from October 26, 2026, to $10.97 at most in the first of them.
Domain renewal prices: Started tracking first-year, renewal and transfer prices for .com, .net, .org, .io and .co at Porkbun, IONOS, Dynadot, Hostinger and Squarespace, from each registrar's own price list. GoDaddy, Namecheap, Spaceship, Name.com and Bluehost answered our requests with a security check or a refusal, Wix showed only first-year prices in euros, and Cloudflare publishes no price list, so they aren't compared.
HostPapa: Its .com renewal now includes the $0.20 ICANN fee its domain renewal page states: $24.19 a year rather than $23.99.
WordPress plans: Read which plans the WordPress hosting pages of Hostinger, SiteGround, GreenGeeks, DreamHost, FastComet, ChemiCloud, HostPapa, Hostwinds, InterServer and ScalaHosting sell, to price WordPress hosting from the same renewal data.
Hosting prices: Started tracking every plan and term at 18 hosts, intro and renewal price side by side, read from each host's own pages: ChemiCloud, DreamHost, FastComet, Flywheel, GreenGeeks, hosting.com (formerly A2 Hosting), Hostinger, HostPapa, Hostwinds, InterServer, IONOS, Kinsta, Liquid Web, Pressable, Rocket.net, ScalaHosting, SiteGround and WP Engine. Hostwinds publishes only a yearly starting price per plan, and Liquid Web's plan grid omits or garbles two cells, so some of their terms are blank.
Hosts not priced: Bluehost and HostGator answer our requests with a CAPTCHA, and InMotion Hosting, Cloudways, GoDaddy and Namecheap with a block or bot check (Namecheap's readable help pages give only its renewal prices), so these six hosts have no prices here.
Renewal price spreadsheet: Every hosting plan and term, with its intro price, renewal price, the increase and the host's page it comes from, is a downloadable spreadsheet.
Hosting Renewal: Launched at hostingrenewal.com: a calculator for what hosting costs once renewals are included (sites, storage, visits, term and the years you keep it), a renewal price page for each host and a table of every renewal price.
